Idle & Wild is set in a landscaped sub-tropical garden on a working farm in the Sabie River valley. The Sabie River borders our property & peaceful walks can be taken down to the river through the orchards or Natural Bush where one can picnic or just relax
There is a choice of African Thatched rondavels, honeymoon rondavels & cottage
Each Rondavel is privately located in the garden, with their own kitchenette, private braai (BBQ) area & verandah with views over the garden with its abundant bird life
2 Rondavels consist of 2 x ¾ beds, fan, and shower en-suite for the traveller that just wants to relax & unwind.
The honeymoon rondavels each have a queen-size bed, air-conditioners, private spa-bath, shower en suite & one has a fireplace. Ideal for a romantic getaway
Our Cottage is ideal to accommodate four people. It consists of 2 en-suite bedrooms, one with Queen size bed, and the other with 2 single beds.
Open plan Lounge/Dinning Room/Kitchenette area & fire place opening onto a verandah overlooking the valley where you can marvel at the beautiful sunsets and mountain views.
The Fish Eagle and Sunbird room adjoin the main house. Each has a lounge area with TV, bathroom en suite, air-conditioning & a Kitchenette. The Rooms have 2 separate entrances, one entrance is close to reception and the other from a private courtyard with braai (BBQ) facilities.
The Sunbird room also has a small room containing a bunk bed and its own toilet and basin.
Breakfast is served on the verandah of the main house, or a packed breakfast will be provided for early morning game drives
IDLE & WILD is ideally situated for a rejuvenating break in the heart of nature, or exploring the surrounding areas such as Kruger National Park, God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes, Pilgrims Rest and the many waterfalls.
RIVER RAFTING: (NEW)
We are pleased to announce the opening of Nkosi Adventures!
With experienced guides and approved equipment this is an excellent Family activity. (Minimum age of 5 - subject to water level.)
The trips start at 09h00, 12h00 & 15h00 and we operate 7 days a week.
Duration is approximately one and a half hours and the cost is R230 per person.
Quad Bike Trails:
Explore the Sabie River Valley on a 4-wheeler!!!
We offer Guided Quad Bike Trails in the area giving the rider a great experience and excitement of riding through scenic riverine areas, indigenous bush & Farmlands in and around the Sabie River Valley with the Optional natural obstacles to negotiate ( 1hr, 2hr, 3-4hour Trails)
Quad Trails, River Rafting(on site), Hot air ballooning, river rafting, horse riding, Birding, Hikes, bass fishing, cycling, night & day drives into the Kruger Park or private reserves, are just some of the activities in the area. Restaurants nearby. Secure parking.

ROUTE via NELSPRUIT
Leave Johannesburg on N12 highway going east. You will join N4 Highway at Witbank. Stay on N4 passing Belfast to Nelspruit, turn left onto R40 direction White River.
In White River turn left at fist traffic light, then right at next light, then turn left at 2nd traffic light. You should be on the R40 direction Hazyview.
Stay on R40 to Hazyview.(+- 40km). until you get to the T-junction. Turn left at T-junction. Go through 2 stops, 2 robots(traffic light) and a 3-way stop. and after about 500 meters TURN LEFT onto R536 direction Sabie. We are 5 kms from this turn on the right hand side of the road. We are well sign posted. (Two tolls R40,00 and R60,00)
ROUTE via LYDENBURG (Scenic road - depending on weather)
As route via Nelspruit, but turn left at Belfast onto the R540, Go through Dullstroom to Lydenburg. Take R37 over Long Tom Pass to Sabie. Leave Sabie on R536 direction Hazyview. (Do not take the Kiepersol turn-off). We are 38 kms from Sabie on the left hand side of the road. This is a very scenic route. Both routes are about 4 hours from Johannesburg. (One toll R40,00)
